An Effective CV

Your CV is the employer’s first impression of you so it should always look professional. Use good quality white paper and ideally it should be two pages long.  Tailor your CV to each application and your employer’s needs. Always attach a covering letter with each application explaining which vacancy you are applying for and briefly, why you should be considered.

Be honest when writing your CV and avoid leaving any gaps. If there are gaps describe what you did during that period e.g. retrained at college, travelled.

List your career history with the most recent position first and then work back.

Don’t Include Photographs or salary details.

In the hobbies and interests section mention only genuine activities. Remember you may be asked to talk about them at your interview.
